Sophia's First Year

Here Comes Sophia!!!

Grandma, Grandpa, and Mommy before leaving on a very cold Florida day

In the wee hours of the morning on January 7th, 2010, Grandma, Eduardo, and Ginny take off for the hospital, nervously awaiting Sophia's welcome into the world, Grandpa stayed home with Josiah, Isaac, and Evie!

Mommy waiting for the fireworks to start!

It was a very cold day for Florida, in fact, that morning there was "Florida snow" (frozen dew) on the rooftops...

A wee little one...

Sophia arrived healthy and strong at 7 lb 6 oz, 19 inches long. She had lots of pretty hair and looked just like Evie! And just like her big sister, and big brother Isaac, it only took her 15 minutes or so to be born!

Awwww! Sweet little face!

Where am I... What am I... WHO AM I!

My cute little toesies!

Hola papito!

There couldn't have been a more proud papa that day. It was love at first sight...

What a bundle of joy, and what an honor to have Grandma there at the birth!

"A mi nadie me quiere..."

Here's our little peanut, soon to be nicknamed "poo poo", "Sophie Wophie", "Sophe", and many others names...

Sophie is a sweet, precious gift from Jesus. And to think they had said she had no heartbeat... She is our little miracle!

Soon 2 big brothers and 1 big sister came hurrying in, anxious to see their little baby...

All 6 Mendez' together at last!!!!

"For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them."

Psalm 139:13-16

Taking turns holding our sweet little bundle, even Grandpa gets into the act, oh what a sweet day!
